I created this sculpture for a graphic symbolism class, and the study was on the anatomy of type. I included five parts of the anatomy of type, and included the x-height, the serif, the base line, the mean line, and the ‘upper case letter’. The sculpture is canvas paper and oak, with magazine cutouts and black spray paint.
I would like to expand on this idea with a new sculpture, possibly on a larger scale so that I may include the full anatomy of type, and possibly have a full word displayed. I will also paint or stain the bare wood to be more in line with the color scheme of the foreground subjects.
